Little Peacemakers

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called Children of God."- Matthew 5:9

I watched my nine-year-old daughter play with her best friend today.  The two of them were blissfully unaware that what they were doing was revolutionary.  A Christian Pastor's daughter playing with a conservative Muslim on 9/11....on THIS 9/11.

The girls had no idea that across the country and around the world, Christians and Muslims are struggling so mightily.  They made domino chains, played American Girl Dolls and schemed to attack the neighbor boys with water balloons.  And when the friend's mom came to pick her up, dressed in her hijab, I found myself hoping beyond hope that people were paying attention to what was going on.  It might have seemed like a normal playdate  - but to me it signaled something much more profound.  To me it signaled where peace begins.  With children being taught how to love one other.
